Impact of GST on Visa Fee

As you know GST, Goods and Services Tax, has replaced the all old taxes from 01 Jul 17 in India. Under GST, goods and services are taxed at the following rates, 0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, 28%. There is a special rate of 0.25% on rough precious and semi-precious stones and 3% on gold.[3] Also a cess of 15% or other rates on top of 28% GST applies on few items like aerated drinks, luxury cars and tobacco products

The effect of GST is also apply on Visa fee, because is a service industry. There is no any major change in embassy fee and VFS fee, if applicable. But due to taxation process change, only figure got replaced from 15% to 18%. (JMT Travel Services Pvt. Ltd. charges will also amend as per the applicability of 18% on every handling fee collected from 01 Jul 17.

Malaysia Visa Fee, After GST implementation,

Country like Malaysia, Malaysia OSC visa application centre will increase the service charge accordingly. The below service charge will be applicable with effect from 1st July 2017.

OSC Charge - INR 4720

Courier Service – INR 315

China Visa Fee, After GST implementation,

China VFS visa application centre will increase the service charge accordingly and all applications collected on or after July 1st, 2017 will be charged as per new tax rate. Service fee of Normal application will increase from Rs.1610 to Rs.1652 (including 18% GST) while as for Express application from Rs.2415 to Rs.2478 (including 18% GST). Premium lounge service fee will increase from Rs. 2415 to Rs. 2478 (including 18% GST).

Thailand Visa Fee, After GST implementation,

Thailand VFS visa application centre has increased our service charges accordingly. The new Thailand VFS Charges is Rs. 345/- per application.

The same small changes is applicable with all countries in which VFS is involved.
